TO ALL OUR VOLUNTEERS

Time is starting to fly – hope all you Crows are preening your feathers ready for the big journey to CrowLand.

As always, this Festival, like so many other events, could just not happen without the assistance of our volunteers.  The appreciation of the whole flock is shown in several ways to those who provide assistance in numerous activities:

  • Information – everyone expects them to be the font of all knowledge (but they do ask you read your program when it is available first)
  • Administration – who help keep sanity in a crazy busy environment
  • Merchandise – these folk do everything from sorting the volunteers shirts to entertainers CD’s to games equipment and apparell
  • Parking and Siting who make sure you have somewhere to nest for the week
  • Entry Gate – as this is a closed event they keep an eye on everything
  • Games – Ladder Golf, Petanque, Social Disc Bowls, Australian Disc Bowls Championships
  • Kitchen Chicks who feed volunteers on the days they work
  • First Aid helpers who fix grazes and incidents and organise more serious accidents to ambulance and hospital
  • Poets and Music – poetry and song writing – ukulele lessons and musical jam sessions
  • Seminars and Workshops – knowledge sharing – do you have a topic or hobby or interest that could be of interest to our flock
  • Cleaning – an incredibly important job
  • Crafty Crows – for ladies and gents – everything from knitting to patchwork, from crochet to sewing and maybe even art
  • Daddy Day Care – again for both guys and gals – woodwork in creative forms, even guitar making this year
  • and so the list goes on with line dancing, tai chi, walking group, sanitiser control etc etc.

As you can imagine some of the older crows have had problems with their legs and feet during the intervening period since we could last nest. Their landings on some attempted flights were not so smooth and knees, hips and ankles copped a bit rough treatment, necessitating reconstruction if they could get an appointment with a surgeon or hospital. So there are a few vacancies for various helpers.

Volunteers are really appreciated and acknowledged in various ways, one of which is a limited edition volunteer shirt.  To measure your size, lay one of your favourite fitting shirts flat and measure between armpit and armpit. This will give you the cm measurement to fill in the form mentioned below.

As so many things have changed during this covid period, we would appreciate your confirming the offer to be a volunteer helper.  We can’t manage without you and if you have been a volunteer before, you know it can be a lot of fun with like minded people.

Here is a link to the online form to confirm your interest as a volunteer. Please fill in your details, especially so we can match your size to a shirt.

There are still a couple powered sites available and these are reserved for people staying on site for seven days and needing essential power, such as CPAP machines. Otherwise both small and drive through unpowered sites are still available.  Most groups have been re-allocated in close proximity to their 2020 proposed spots.

If you need to charge phones, scooters or other equipment, there are external power points available to share and also at the office, you just need to ask. Don’t hesitate to email any queries and they will be answered asap.

Take care till we next “squawk”
