Stone the Crows 2018

Crow Chronicle Newsletters What's On How to Book The Venue ACTA Grounds Open Day and Markets Welcome to the home of Stone the Crows Festival

2018 Festival bookings open

75 days till the flock comes in to nest! Time is rushing!!

We only have about 15 unpowered sites left. Thanks to those who have booked and commiserations to those who have had to cancel for various reasons, we do hope everything works out for you.

A small team of siting people will be joining the Chief Crows in CrowLand in the next little while to check out the new building, make sure the site layout plan works and ascertain that all the allocated sites prepared over recent weeks are correct. With such a big construction project of the building, concrete car parks and landscaping, we need to be certain that everything is spot on for the siting and meet and greet team who will have just two days to get the grounds marked out and ready for your arrival. The World Championships finish on the 27th March and you come in on the 30th.

Once that's all confirmed, the Squawkers Permits will be sent out showing your site number, the gate at which you need to enter and your arrival time. We use two gates and staggered arrival times to ease congestion around the venue and minimise the time you need to wait before getting to your actual site.

Special thanks as always to our volunteers - you are really gold plated - it has been said before but it's true!. If you are a Crow Helper there will be an email in the next week or so asking you to come in either Tuesday morning, Wednesday or at the latest Thursday morning to get your sections ready for the flock's arrival on Friday. If you haven't sent in your shirt size PLEASE DO SO TODAY as the order needs to be in NOW!.
Once again thanks to Jacks Music in Newcastle, we will have both beginner and advanced ukuleles on consignment.  If you would like to learn how to play the uke, remember you don't need previous musical experience, This is the ideal opportunity to purchase a quality instrument at a very realistic price.

We have 12 Soprano Ukuleles Blue Sea in colour and the same number in Hawaiian Rose (in other words blue or pink).  These are only $70 and Rob Nichols (our master tutor) with his helpers will ensure they pitch tuned for all beginners.

Concert ukuleles which are slightly larger are available in Exotic Mahogany Natural  at $120 for the My Leho Concert or the alternative is the Leho LHUC-MM Concert Ukulele Mahogany at $130.

For the guys who have large hands or if you prefer a deeper toned instrument, your choice could be the Tenor ukuleles. The choice here are either standard ukulele in Mahogany at $150 or the super Mahogany B-Band which has the electric pickup for $240.

Jack's Music are also sending quick release strap kits, clip on chromatic tuners and ukulele stands priced at $20, $15 and $20 respectively.

Last year we sold out before the Festival started so if you would like to pre-order and pay for your instrument before your arrival at the grounds, please email as soon as possible. It will be reserved in your name for collection on the Friday afternoon of 30th March.

Of course, you are welcome to bring your own instrument - that goes without saying. This is a service provided to assist in particular total novices. It's better to get a reasonable quality instrument at a reasonable price rather than buy a cheapie, find it is hopeless and have to rebuy again in the very near future.
At this time, the program for ukulele tuition is only in DRAFT form.....but here is the proposed timetable. The final times will be in your actual program which will be available on line in early March.
